                    <text>During the past year I have tried to keep in contact with as many of our class&#13;
as possible.&#13;
During this time much has happened to our crowd, and we have been&#13;
split up all over the world.&#13;
Some have dropped from view, but I am in hopes that&#13;
through this letter&#13;
we will again find out where they are.&#13;
Some or the facts in&#13;
this letter&#13;
may not entirely&#13;
be true but I em in hopes that you will find the majority of it correct.&#13;
If you have any further&#13;
information&#13;
on any of the class please&#13;
let me know and through this I will be able to make up another letter&#13;
similar to&#13;
this.&#13;
If you have the address of any of the fellows that I have no address behind&#13;
their name I would appreciate&#13;
you ·sending them to me so that I may send them a copy&#13;
of this letter•&#13;
Due to my poor memory I mny have left out quite a few of the class that should be&#13;
mentioned.&#13;
Due to lack of contact with some I have given very little&#13;
n8ws of them,&#13;
but I am in hopes that these shortcomings will be overlooked,&#13;
for I have not purposely left any ones name out nor withheld any information.&#13;
These fellows ·deserve to be&#13;
For a start we will get the bad news off our chest.&#13;
mentioned first&#13;
for as far as I know they are our only two gold stars.&#13;
Charles (Chuck) Collier&#13;
- Chuck left A.c.s. at the end of the second year to go&#13;
in the aney- and become a pilot.&#13;
He was well on his way to getting hi~ wings when&#13;
he was killed&#13;
in a plane orash in Kansas.&#13;
I ~ve received very little&#13;
information&#13;
as to how it happened and, I am sorry that I cannot give his home address.&#13;
We all&#13;
know what a swell fellow and photographer&#13;

Glen Miller - G loft school at the same tiJOO Chuck did, and for the same purpose.·&#13;
Later he took advo.nced training&#13;

He was first&#13;
sent to Santa Ann, Calif•&#13;

He was one of the few in his class to be selected to became a bomber&#13;
pilot.&#13;
During his first&#13;
flight&#13;
at Mather•Field,&#13;
Calif.&#13;
he was killed when the B 25&#13;
he was in crashed.&#13;
His body was cremated, and his urn is in the Riverside';Colum.:.&#13;

Mardee Aciama • You will probably remember Mardee by her smile from the desk in&#13;
the reception&#13;
room. Mardee left A.c.s,. to join the Waves, and was first&#13;
sent to&#13;
New York. Later she was sent to Stillwater,&#13;
Oklahoma to Yoemans school.&#13;
After&#13;
finishing&#13;
school she was sent to San F_rancisco, Calif• wher_e she is working in the&#13;
fleet post office.&#13;

Fred Archer - Fred left A.c.s. after being there for. a long time, and helping&#13;
many a photographer&#13;
get started.&#13;
-I do not know why he left.&#13;
He is now working for&#13;
either Columbia or Universal&#13;
studio.&#13;
The last news I had of him was that he was&#13;
in good health and seemed quite happy.&#13;
We all hope that this j,s true and that it&#13;

Ted Barnaby - Ted came into our class at the beginning of the second yenr.&#13;
He&#13;
had a lot or 4rive, and turned out a lot of good work. After leaving the scho.ol I&#13;

Herb Barrett&#13;
- Herb left A.c.s.&#13;
in the middle of the second year to join the&#13;
in L.A. for quite a while, and was later transferred&#13;
to&#13;
Nnvy. He was stationed&#13;
Washington, n.c. He is now working with the Steichen group. but says that he is&#13;
not doing very much shooting.&#13;
Herb was mnrried to Roberta Thompson (a first&#13;
year&#13;
student.during&#13;
our second year) in July.&#13;
Roberta is working for International&#13;

George Barrows - George was one of the last to leave A.c.s. and he left&#13;
the Navy. After being in the Navy for a while he was given a medical dischargto join&#13;
e.&#13;
Later he was rejected by the anny. He then did a book on a oonstruction&#13;
job for the&#13;
government, which turned out to be a big success.&#13;
He is now in P,artnership with&#13;
Norman Halve (a first year student during our second year) and they are&#13;
doing fine&#13;
with it, and we are in hopes that things will continue to prosper for them.&#13;
Douglas (Doug) Besaw - I imagine that quite a few of us have forgotten Doug,&#13;
he&#13;
was quiet, and had to·work to stay in school as long as he did.&#13;
He was a swell&#13;
fellow from Wisconsin, and I am sorry to say that I have had no news of&#13;
hilll since he&#13;
left.&#13;

Tom Binford - After Tom,held his one man show at A.c.s. he left and returned&#13;

Kansas City.&#13;
There he has been doing a lot of fashion and illustrative&#13;

son Mark&#13;
are getting along fine.&#13;
While going across the country I had the pleasure of see•&#13;
ing Tom and Helen and they looked fine.&#13;

Ken Brown - Ken went back to A.c.s. for a third year, and from what I he~r&#13;

Ken tried to join the Army and the Navy, but&#13;
was turned down by both. His girl; Doris Brookman ( known to us as Shorty)&#13;
wrote&#13;
thnt Ken was now doing some advertising&#13;
work for Consolidated Aircraft.&#13;
Ed Burks - Ed nade up one of the best looking sets of prints that I have&#13;
ever&#13;
seen before he left school.&#13;
He went to New York and for some time worked with a&#13;
studio that Luis Lemus was working for·. Ed and Luis shared an apartment&#13;
until Ed&#13;
left to join. the Navy'~ He spent his boot training at Sampson, New York and&#13;
was&#13;
sent to Washington, n·.c·.to join the Steichen group. From his letters&#13;
I gather that&#13;
he has been doing a lot of shooting.&#13;
Sandy Burpee - Sandy left school at the end of the first year·. She is now&#13;
an&#13;
instructor&#13;
and general manager of a womens athelitic&#13;
club in some hotel in New&#13;

She was in summer school before the start of our first year.&#13;
